CEHMEFE - Digital Visual & Communication System for a Fetal Medicine Clinic

CEHMEFE is a Honduran OB-GYN clinic specialized in fetal medicine, where digital communication plays a crucial role in building trust and reducing patient anxiety.

The design challenge was to communicate complex medical information while maintaining a calm, empathetic, and credible (humanized) visual presence.

This project explores how visual systems, hierarchy and motion can be used as tools for clarity and reassurance in sensitive healthcare contexts.

Project Overview

Role: Digital Visual Artist & Digital Creator

Focus: Visual strategy, design, and research-led digital communication.

This project explores how visual design and motion can communicate trust, clarity, and empathy in digital health contexts, specifically within fetal medicine in Honduras.

Discovery

Before designing, I explored how local and foreign fetal medicine clinics visually communicate with patients and families. I examined color, typography, and content style across platforms to understand how to balance clinical accuracy with emotional sensitivity.

Visual language in fetal medicine must reduce anxiety while maintaining clinical accuracy.

Concept & Design

The visual concept was informed by research into healthcare communication, prioritizing clarity, calmness, and emotional sensitivity. The resulting design seeks to balance clinical credibility with a more humanized brand, using consistent visual structures to support reassuring communication.

Prototype

Design decisions were developed through iterative prototyping. In this case, testing layouts and hierarchy to balance clarity and emotional sensitivity which were key, but also improving comprehension.

Early exploration of content tested visual density and hierarchy in design. Iterations focused on typographic scale, spacing and legibility. Final designs prioritize clarity and consistency.

Final outcomes

The final visual & communication system supports CEHMEFE’S role as a trusted medical clinic while maintaining a compassionate digital presence centered on their patients.

Reflection

This project reinforced my interest in design as a research-driven practice and also strengthened my motivation to further study media design, particularly to understand the role of visual systems in shaping meaning and accessibility in digital communication.
