'Neonatal Care' Video Project

Timeline: 3 weeks

This video project involved producing a short, engaging video featuring two biomedical engineering students presenting the initiative of “Neocare”. My goal was to create a clear and professional video that would communicate the project’s purpose while managing all the aspects behind production, from the concept of the video to the publication.

Objective & Concept

The video’s purpose was to inform and engage UNITEC’s audience about the project that two biomed engineering students developed on neonatal care, highlighting the work they did in a compelling way. I developed a script that would be easy to follow, visually appealing, and also suitable for social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram.

Workflow

I decided to structure the project as a complete workflow to develop this video:

  1. Research: Learned more about ‘Neocare’ and neonatal care to accurately convey its objectives.
  2. Scriptwriting: Developed a concise script with the best questions to describe the project’s purpose, thus guiding the students’ dialogue.
  3. Interviews & Coordination: Scheduled and conducted interviews, coordinating the logistics behind recording the video.
  4. Video Production & Editing: Filmed the students and then later edited the video, incorporating the text, photography, overlays and graphics for more clarity. I also decided to add a bit of color grading to make the video more attractive.
  5. Publication: Uploaded the video on social media platforms.

With this workflow, the structured approach allowed me to deliver the project on time. Coordinating the students’ schedules was a key challenge. I addressed this by creating a detailed recording plan and timeline, which allowed us to record efficiently and ensure the editing would go smoothly.

Reflection

The final video communicated effectively the ‘Neocare’ project’s objective as well as the students’ experience to the target audience. It received positive engagement on social media. I’m convinced this project strengthened my skills in storytelling, project coordination, and production.
