NYC Internship Alumni - Video Project

Project Overview

Role: Digital Communication Coordinator

This video showcased a UNITEC student’s international internship experience in New York City, combining her personal perspective with dynamic footage of the city and her time abroad.

My goal was to transform her experience into an engaging, fast-paced story that captured both the professional opportunity and the excitement of living and working in New York. We also wanted students to feel encouraged to approach the International Programs office. I edited the video using a variety of shots, pacing, text, and visual transitions to maintain audience interest throughout. I also incorporated English subtitles, making the story accessible to a broader audience while highlighting the international nature of the experience.

Objective & Concept

The objective was to turn a student’s internship abroad into an inspiring and relatable story that showed the value of international experiences beyond the classroom. Through dynamic visuals of New York and her personal perspective, the video aimed to encourage other UNITEC students to explore similar opportunities through the university’s International Programs Office.

Software & Technical Skills

Reflection & Results

This project reinforced the value of using student experiences to create content that feels both personal and purposeful. The collaboration with Art Bound Initiative on Instagram also helped extend the story beyond UNITEC’s audience and connect it with a broader international community. It strengthened my experience in collaborative content, visual storytelling, and adapting institutional messages into engaging social media narratives.
